Space Buddies is a family comedy film. It is the 3rd film in the Air Buddies series. It was released February 3, 2009. The film was rated G by the MPAA. Like Air Buddies and Snow Buddies, this movie was released directly on DVD and Blu-Ray.
The Buddies (Field Cate, Liliana Mumy, Josh Flitter, Skyler Gisondo, Henry Hodges) sneak aboard the experimental space shuttle Vision 1, privately funded and owned by a company called Vision Enterprises. The five dogs are sealed into the shuttle, which is controlled remotely at mission control for its first flight.
In an effort to refuel, they come across an old Russian space station, finding a cosmonaut, named Yuri (Diedrich Bader), and his dog Spudnick (Jason Earles) that are stationed there. The cosmonaut is quite content to stay in space, yet the dog wishes to get home. They also meet a ferret named Gravity (Amy Sedaris), who is the Buddies' mission control. On their mission, they have to battle an evil scientist trying to wreck the mission, and get back home to Earth.
